SOUVENIR Bright Cut Engraved SIGNET Ring 4.8g 18k Gold Rosy Chunky Oval French Antique Victorian
ABOUT:
This is another one that is right up my alley. I love jewelry with words and this "Souvenir" ring is a unique one in that it is in signet form. The ring face is beautifully engraved with old style font and swirling designs. Besides associating it with a travel keepsake, "souvenir" also means memory or remembrance, so it could have been given as a "think of me" type of love token.
French hallmarks for 18k gold. Rich antique patina, this one reads quite rosy with butty highlights from the unknown recipe of alloys used so many years ago.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 8 1/4. It weighs a sturdy 4.8g. The oval cartouche is 16x7.5mm.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The ring face has a shallow curve to the center. It isn't a sharp ding or dent, just a very slight and smooth impression. The surface wear can catch the light due to the smooth mirrored finish of the signet face. A bit of wear to the S. Still very legible.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
