SPREADY Vintage 1.1 Carat Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Bezel Set Ring Art Deco Stacker Band 18k White Gold Solitaire Geometric Engagement

SPREADY Vintage 1.1 Carat Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Bezel Set Ring Art Deco Stacker Band 18k White Gold Solitaire Geometric Engagement

ABOUT:
We love a spready old cut (facing up even larger than it weighs!)
I get requests for bezel set rings quite often and here is a good example of one in a comfortable ready to wear setting that still has some height and drama to it. With a wonderful 1.1 carat old mine cut natural diamond held securely in the bezel, which serves as an illusion setting to make the stone appear even larger when wearing by surrounding it in a white metal. This is in addition to the fact that the old mine cut is spready as mentioned. With the height to the setting drawing it closer to the wearer as well - all these things contributing towards maximizing the size to the eye.

I got this one in Sweden on one of my sourcing trips this past year. It is crafted in 18k white gold with full Swedish hallmarks and their date stamp for 1946. Geometric details within the ring shoulders and a basket type design to the gallery (the ring face below the bezel).

I've been wearing it with a gold donut band or a yellow diamond band. I love mixing metals in my ringstack.

Makes a timeless engagement ring, adds geometry and sparkle to a ring stack. It layers really wonderfully with other pieces with the added height. And again comfortable with the diamond set in the sturdy bezel so it doesn't catch on things despite said height.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 6 1/4
Ring face: 8.9mm north south and 6.4mm tall off the finger.
Weight: 2.7g
The diamond is about 7.2mm and widens out a bit further an unknown amount in the bezel setting so it is difficult to determine exact measurements but it is 1.1 carat, again appearing larger with the bezel. This is an estimate as I would not remove the stone from the setting for exact measurements. And as I mentioned it is a spready old cut, so it actually faces up closer to a 1.4 carat stone.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Well you knew it was coming - the detailed diamond report. : ). Typical antique diamond with quirks.
There is a slightly eye visible smattering of crystal with some tiny carbon speck inclusions on one side of the stone along with a pocket inclusion that is eye visible but tucked against the bezel which helps. Not eye visible are the smaller crystal speck inclusions. There are also some polish lines to one of the pavilion facets and one of the facet junctions (or meetpoints) is frosted (similar to a frosted girdle of an antique diamond), these are also slightly eye visible to eye visible when looking through the stone when they catch the light.

The stone displays a warm to very pale yellow hue, somewhat contrasted by the vibrant white gold of the setting which is often intentional. It varies from room to room so hopefully the photos in different lighting conditions give you an indication of how the piece wears. Feel free to request additional videos too as I have several and it seems to capture the stone better than some of the photos which come out quite busy picking up all the reflections of the stone.

I don't prefer to grade my antique diamonds with the Four C's grading scale which came about later for machine cut diamonds with mathematically perfected facets. Their uniqueness and quirks are expected and part of their charm, and my diamond reports (as above) are more detailed for each individual stone than a letter grade would be, but I will pass along the grades as I received them of L in color, SI2 in clarity. It can read pretty frosty in my opinion so this wouldn't be the one for someone looking for an antique stone that is bright white and crystal clear, but rather more along the lines of what we typically find with antique diamonds and their one of a kind attributes.

Also a note that these popular bezel settings reflect the light differently being nested into and surrounded by the white gold, compared to one suspended in prongs where the girdle and pavilion can catch the light but it still has a lovely sparkle. And the setting is also one of the things that makes it very interesting! A fun one to layer and stack. Sturdy piece, ready to wear.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )
