Sphere Circular 3D Victorian Black Spiked Stud Earrings with Ball Rivets " Sputnik " Style but Antique 10k Gold Studs Jet?
I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
Unique and timeless spherical earrings, these spiky orb studs, despite being from the Victorian period, have a bit of an edge and still feel on trend today.
Crafted in 10k gold (tested, unmarked), the rosy gold cupped backs hold the black spheres which are set with little gold bead / ball rivet details like spikes.
We call these types of designs "sputnik" now, like the satellite designs that came out in the mid-century period but were usually gemset. These are actually earlier and just happen to resemble the later design, but were popular in the Victorian period using the orb like shape with rivets. I believe the black material may be French Jet?
They look awesome on the ear with the stark color and the 3D sphere that crops out from the ear.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
9.3mm in diameter.
They weigh 1.9g combined.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
One has a small chip seen under magnification but not really evident while wearing. Sturdy and interesting. Some small impressions to the little rivets again under magnification, they appear complete while wearing so just age appropriate wear.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
