ABOUT:
Special French Victorian era antique watch fob seal pendant. This piece adds a fun figural interest and uniqueness, it is fantastic to look at.
The Victorians were fascinated with nature and also with jewelry, and we see some wonderful designs come from the period incorporating both of these delights. As the figural pieces of the Victorian era often held a symbolism, the hunting dog this was a popular motif during the Victorian period. The motif was used often in jewelry design for representing loyalty, devotion and faithfulness.
This dainty piece is a Paris find in 18k rich gold with the figural dog perched on the seal. The base is set with a bloodstone.
Makes a great pendant - perfect to add to a neckmess or neckstack with a wonderful quality. With all its design elements it makes a great conversation piece.
French hallmarks for 18k.
Chain is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Weight is 1.7grams. Dainty little guy, 16.7mm from base of the seal to the top of the head. The bloodstone is about 13x10mm.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. But still very legible design. Some patina in the recesses. The little jump ring is 10k. I added it because it didn't come with one and the patina is a pretty good match but the dog and the rest of the piece is solid 18k gold aside from that little added loop. No damage to the bloodstone, just surface wear but a nice sheen and polish. t
But Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition.
