ABOUT:
Beautiful antique French 18k gold ring with reticulated details of flowers, stems and leaves in a navette shape. Textbook Art Nouveau design with the swirled ring shoulders, each set with a tulip or lotus flower. The gold is a buttery 18k gold with rosy highlights and a satin finish which was typical in the Art Nouveau era. It is just wonderful looking at it under magnification and seeing how the raised areas of the ornately detailed floral design have a rosy shine from organic wear over the years, and yet the floral designs are still so legible.
This is an antique piece that I acquired in France from the Belle Epoque period. It has their hallmark for 18k gold. Beautiful form to this setting, highlighted by the sparkling old cut diamonds and wonderful bloomed gold patina. It appears to be missing a diamond chip in the center leaf setting but it's so tiny that I think a repair may appear more glaring than just leaving the setting as is. Little rose cuts accent the top and bottom flowers.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7. The ring face is 20.8mm. It weighs 2.5 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are preowned and in estate condition. As mentioned, one diamond chip is missing but it is not glaring as the setting is very legible. There is a little wear to the underside of one of the tips but it is not seen while wearing. There is a tiny pinhead hole to the gold on the left side of the flower right at the rim. It almost appears as part of the openwork design but it is the result of wear to the petal, again not glaring in the least but if you use the 20x zoom feature you can seek it out in the listing pics.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
