Another sweetie old cut diamond solitaire ready for regular wear! This one I went for of course for the hue and the super chunky old mine cut diamond! This eye clean old cut is a beautiful champagne to warm pale yellow in color. A French antique piece that I found in Paris, the platinum setting is intentional to provide a contrast to the hue of the diamond.
It is lovely, subtle, and seems to change color from room to room. I showed it with other whiter diamonds for comparison and in varying lighting conditions so feel free to check my website for additional photos.
I love this stone not only for the color and clarity but also for the somewhat freeform elongated shape of it, not perfectly cushioned, nor round nor oval. Just an awesome example of a hand chiseled one of a kind antique stone.
This timeless sweetie also has the added bonus of having excellent prongs making it ready for daily wear. A beautiful stacker, right hand ring, anniversary or engagement ring. I love it with a buttery yellow gold band in a mixed metals stack.
The setting is also quite lovely with the long prongs to hold the diamond up so that it can catch the light. The little halo of platinum around the base of the setting serves as an illusion setting to make the diamond appear even larger on the hand, while also giving it a lovely design element.
No hallmarks remain but tests as platinum.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7, a little over.
For sizing - I am sorry I don't offer it. Best to discuss with your local jeweler who would be doing the work, to see how far they would feel comfortable in sizing (sometimes you can email or text them photos for feedback).
The diamond is about 5.9x5.2mm and super chunky at 4mm deep so it measures about .8 carat because of the high crown and deep pavilion. I do not remove stones from their settings for exact carat weight so this is an estimate.
The ring face is 7.9mm north south and stands 6.6mm off the finger.
The ring weight 2.75 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
No really eye visible issues to this antique diamond. There is a small carbon speck that is hidden within the faceting (a sign of a well cut antique stone) and there is an indented natural inclusion off the culet facet that appears as a frosty speck when looking through the stone. This one was clearly stacked for most of its life with rub marks to the vertical edges underneath the halo and blunt edges to the shank. The shank is a bit thin as well as I believe it was connected with solder to a wrap or band that was then removed.
Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights the inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
