Antique Rose Cut DIAMOND Toi et Moi Ring In Box Double Disco Ball 5.5 Carat Face Up Spready Pear 14k White Gold French Art Deco Tall Ring

ABOUT:
Wow is this Paris find a fun to wear with the super spready rose cuts propped up towards the wearer. These stones face up quite large at 2 3/4 carat EACH, (although the actual carat weight is nowhere near that as the stones have flat backs and no pavilions.) But talk about impactful! It wears like a 5.5 carat double diamond / toi et moi ring.
Found in Paris, I loved wearing this one in the hotel room each night, I was wearing it as a power pointer - it's just so blingy. Each stone has a wonderful antique look in that they are not perfectly round. Rather they have a more organic free form feel having been hand cut so many years ago.
I was excited to find the stones in such excellent condition as they do not have pavilions (the pointed base that brilliant cuts have) but these have no real damage and the prongs are excellent holding each stone securely. Also nice to see that there are no dark carbon spots. Note that the diamonds have flat backs and domed tops, cut more like a disk than a deep diamond with pavilion.
Found in Paris, the piece has their hallmark for 14k gold but it's testing higher for me. I think it might have some platinum in the setting as well but selling as 14k per the hallmark.
Comes as pictured in an antique box which is not original to the piece but these old boxes are collectible and valuable and this flashy spectacle deserves appropriate housing.
SO SPARKLY with the large surface area of the stones to reflect the light and shoot rainbows all over.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
The diamonds are each 8.9 to 9.2mm depending on which angle you measure at, with their freeform slightly pear shapes. Like most rose cuts, they are spready and these face up much larger than their actual carat weight, appearing at around 2 3/4 carat each so it wears like a 5.5 carat ring. Again actual carat weight is much less and not really possible to determine without removing the stones to put them on a scale which I don't prefer to do for fear of damage to them.
Size 6 1/4, a little over.
The ring face is 16mm north south and stands 8.7mm tall off the finger.
The piece weighs 4.9grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Amazing sparkle and the stones are really bright and lively, not reading warm and shooting rainbows all over. Typical for antique stones and the way they are cut that you can see right through them, you can see some natural inclusions but neither appear overall frosty and there is no carbon. One has some needles and about 5 icy streaks, the other has less inclusions and is closer to eye clean with the smaller needles being slightly eye visible when they catch the light. Some indented natural inclusions around the frosted girdle that the cutter chose to polish around. One spot of one stone's edge is a bit uneven but again is the result of a natural inclusion extending out to the girdle edge. Both stones appear complete but again free form in shape, almost like a softly cushion cut pear. Sturdy and stable setting - wow is she fun to wear!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
