Antique Mossy Seafoam Blue Green Three Stone Georgian Era Ring with Ruby Spacers 18k Gold Solid 360 Engraved Shank Ball Rivet Halos

Antique Mossy Seafoam Blue Green Three Stone Georgian Era Ring with Ruby Spacers 18k Gold Solid 360 Engraved Shank Ball Rivet Halos

ABOUT:

Gorgeous ornate design and beautiful coloring to this Georgian period closed back three stone ring with the prettiest seafoam greenish blue hues alternating with little ruby spacers between each of the larger oval gemstones. The shank is engraved all the way around which I love to find and there are little ball rivet details around each setting.

The antique dealer I purchased it from and I had a hard time identifying these stones. Two do test as gems and read similar to a greenish to sky blue aquamarine that I have in my own collection but they do not test as such. There also appears to be some mossy coloring to the foil backing that is showing through the stones and accenting their color. One stone may be paste as it gives a weaker test and shows a bit more wear but all stones well matching.

Unique and beautiful in color, they don't seem green enough to be chrysoberyl but perhaps some other type of beryl or quartz accented by the closed back and foil? As we do see a lot of foiled quartz from the period. The larger center stone tests higher in the topaz range so I'm honestly not really sure in the end - and don't prefer to remove them from the antique setting to send off for testing. It could also be that the closed back setting interferes with the gem tester as well so I'm just selling this mystery stone ring as I see it, with its beautiful coloring and ornate setting. I love it and have been enjoying wearing it. All stones well matching in color and still with light reflection from within due to the foil backing.

The rivet details give it a wonderful antique look leading to the flared shoulders which then lead to scrolling details all around the back of the band. So many beautiful touches.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

It is a size 6 1/4, a little over. It weighs 1.65 grams.
The ring face is 7.6mm north south.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
With signs of age considering it's 200 years old. The center stone has a darker / richer hue to the foil back in one area. All stones have some speckling and cloudy spots to the closed back setting and all stones have some abrasions, especially the one end stone that may be paste. The stones still have a sheen and light reflectivity to them, but under magnification especially you can see the matte finish at connection points around the table facet that have softened from age and wear. The center stone has a little scratch too, again more seen under magnification but again still a sheen and sparkle overall. Priced accordingly, the zoom photos and sunshine will accent and highlight these things much more than with normal wear. The coloring and design is fabulous. Shank is a bit thin but stable. A worn prong here or there but none of the stones move at all and have enough remaining prongs to secure them. Always recommend gentler wear on pieces of this age and with the closed back that we avoid getting wet so as not to muddy the foil.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
