Antique 1.25 Carat Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Five Stone Band Stacker Ring Platinum Wedding Prong Set Stacker Victorian Edwardian
ABOUT:
An antique five stone diamond band with old mine cuts totaling around carats totaling 1.25 carat total weight in diamonds. These diamond bands are always super popular and this one is a nice stacker with some height to it and slightly tapering size to the diamonds which are mostly eye clean.
The piece appears to have been fortified to make it for daily wear and one end stone is an older transitional cut diamond that is likely a replacement. It is the smallest stone so the difference in cutting is not glaring as it is not a modern brilliant cut with the busier facets, it just doesn't have the chunkier freeform facets of the rest of the old mine cuts on the piece. Still a beautiful piece to wear.
I could actually see this one in a wedding set or as an anniversary ring or right hand stacker. Diamond bands are among my personal favorites in my collection to mix and match with other pieces. And the prongs are excellent so for a late 1800s to very early 1900s piece, it is ready for regular wear. A timeless piece!
No hallmarks remain but it tests as platinum and fits the bill (as in, it appears as platinum when studying it under magnification.)
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 3/4.
It stands 5mm off the finger. It weighs 3.3 grams. The diamonds span 19mm east west.
The center diamond is about 4.5mm and weighs about .45 carat alone. The flanking diamonds measure about 4mm and the end stones are 3.1 and 3.4mm each. I would not remove the stones to measure them but totals around 1.25 carat total weight in diamonds.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are preowned and in estate condition.
I always expect and love to find quirks in my antique rings and this one is no exception. As mentioned the smallest end stone is an older transitional cut replacement. The center stone has a noticeable warmth having been cut from mines that produced warmer rough during the period. Most of the stones are eye clean when it comes to inclusions, with a few frosty spots seen under magnification but a nice clarity for antique diamonds. No chips nicks or damage although the center stone has a rough area of the girdle as a result of a not eye visible indented natural inclusion which left an unpolished spot by decision of the diamond cutter when he was hand working the stone. Setting is stable, prongs are good, this one is ready for regular wear.
Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.
But as with all my estate pieces - Please note this is not a mint condition item. I have additional photos/video on my website besides those allowed here so feel free to request additional.
Thanks so much for looking at my items!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
